Does this sound familiar to you?

Again? Why does this keep happening? Why I can’t get resolution on this?

I feel trapped in a hamster wheel, running round and round, coming back to the same place. Why?

At some point in life, we all have experienced a moment where we find ourselves struggling with a recurrent circumstance. Be it difficulty to set boundaries, commitment issues, not finishing what you have started, an argument with a close one over expectations for change, compulsions as a way to cover an emotional wound time and time again, this unresolved issue materializes into our reality, sometimes in different areas, but always under the same theme - an emotional wound.

I don’t know what your version of this situation is, but I’m sorry to say that, this week, you will be face to face with it again. Not sure in what area of your life this will show up, but some unresolved issue will find its way back to you.

I know it isn’t pleasant to deal with these “ghosts”, but if you have a tendency to push it away, avoid, or do it halfway, this time I strongly suggest you don’t. Even if it’s not entirely up to you, if it involves others, think how you can find resolution for yourself and make peace with it. A decision will need to be made, one way or another.

Consistency, resilience, and focus continue to be the main theme present for this whole month, so it’s under this mindset that you’re being called to take on what will require your dedicated attention. And this time, for good!

When repeated events happen in our lives, there’s usually not to say always something we have to learn from it. It’s either related to the situation directly, or a behaviour, pointing to how we tend to manage things and what we’re being invited to exercise.

Regardless of how many times you change jobs, you keep having a boss with the same leadership style authoritative and intimidating, hardly listening to what you have to say, ignoring your takes and contributions to the team. When you keep “attracting” such situation, you most likely struggle with low self-esteem or setting boundaries. The concern here isn’t the boss, but why you have such difficulty exercising self-respect.

Even when you have practical-life circumstances, such as always getting late to your commitments. You’ve tried a bunch of time-management courses, followed tips on cheat sheets, read self-help books, and still you’re always scheduling more than your calendar can take. And you even feel the worst person in the world for making people wait, always coming up with the craziest stories to cover up your good intentions, because in the end all you wanted was not to miss the amazing opportunities life is offering you.

Or you and your partner keep having the same discussion about raising your kids, and upon different views of that, when you think you’ve come to a common ground, something happens and brings you back to stage one, highlighting the difference in mindsets and parenting style.

You see? We can keep describing a list of scenarios, but in the end, more than the situation itself, it’s about what’s behind it. Why does it keep happening? And more than that — what does this recurring event in your life say about you?

This week, in an effort to help you start finding more clarity around your whys, I decided to look beyond what we will be tuning in intuitively through the cards, and guide you through an inner journey to your subconscious.

This is where all your life’s information is stored, and where you can look for hints and guidance about your beliefs and emotional triggers.

But before I tell you more about how this will happen, we need to learn about the energy we will be under for the next 6 to 7 days.

How do the cards translate the events?

When we use divinations to help us navigate the intrinsic moments of our daily life, we’re looking for support, guidance, and inspiration. This is not done rationally. We need to access our intuition.

Divinations are not only a great tool to exercise our spirituality and mind-body connection like following our instincts, responding to a gut feeling, or paying closer attention when we feel a sudden chill in our body — but also because they help us expand our self-awareness, and be more attentive to how we respond — or react — to life.

What we’re being invited to look at this week was inspired by 3 cards: one from the Goddesses, Gods and Guardians oracle by Sophie Bashford, and 2 tarot cards, from the traditional Rider Waite deck.

Aditi, a Hindu goddess, whose name means ‘limitless’ and ‘boundless’, is here to help us expand our consciousness.

A celestial mother, also known as Mother Space, she symbolizes the infinite, freedom, divine order, and cosmic connection. (Just coming out of Mother’s Day celebration, this feels like the perfect card to have, holding us dearly while facing this, somewhat, unpleasant moment.)

Alongside the 9 of Wands and the 10 of Cups, these 3 cards are inviting you to take stock of a situation; deal with an unfinished project, or something you have put on hold, or a recurrent circumstance, that now it is time to bring to a close, find a resolution, once and for all.

A man holding a staff, with a bandage wrapped around his head, and looking tired, is the image portrayed in the 9 of Wands card. He’s come a long way; worked hard, and so this card signals a situation that required hard work, that has been done over time, repeatedly, consistently, until completion. It may not have been so pleasant to do so, but it has come to an end.

The depicted suit is Wands, representing our mental capacity in a creative way.

How can you creatively find a solution to what you will be revisiting this week?

What’s encouraging, in the midst of all the effort we’ll need to put into this moment, is that once completed, we will feel absolutely at peace, happy, in harmony with ourselves and those involved that’s where the 10 of Cups comes into place, here representing our emotions.

The position of the cards also tells us something very reassuring. We have numbers following a sequence 9 and 10, showcasing natural progression. Once one step is concluded, the next one is already expected to take place.

This is very positive because it confirms that upon using your creativity to handle your affairs, giving it resolution, it will no longer require continuous planning and action, wearing you out, because it will be solved even if it means that you have made a decision about how you will position yourself towards it.

It is about how doing what’s right for you makes you feel happy, proud, in harmony. When entering this harmonious moment in your life, you have the confirmation that persistence will be well compensated.

This is very encouraging. It gives a boost of hope and endurance to find in us the necessary strength and energy to deal with this situation one final time.

But the card that really intrigued me was the Goddess Aditi. A benevolent woman, reminding us that we carry within a limitless source of wisdom and resources.

In the way spreads usually come to me, the oracle cards work as the medicine for the (challenging) situation being presented by the tarot cards.

When I saw Aditi, with her nurturing invitation to expand our consciousness, I understood that what she is really inviting us to do is to reconnect with our inner trust in the face of any challenges we may encounter. Throughout our life’s path, there’s always something for us to learn. And regardless of how simple or complicated these assignments can be, a bigger question was holding my curious and compelling thinking:

Why do we avoid facing some truths? Why do we procrastinate, leading to even more frustration?

How I look at it

More than a science-based answer that will explain in technical terms the mechanisms our body and brain activate in those moments, this isn’t where I want to put the focus, nor the perspective I would like to bring to our conversation today.

From a psychological viewpoint, if we look at it as a symptom, procrastination is usually tied to poor time management or lack of self-control. This is a very limited view for such a habit. How simple would it be to fix a problem? A little CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) combined with some practical tools and all would be resolved.

You know very well it’s not that simple. From an emotional side, procrastination has been linked to a lack of joy when performing a certain task. What we dislike, or find boring, we tend to naturally avoid. Makes sense to me, but it still doesn’t tell the whole story.

Many are those who experience more acute emotions, feeling overwhelmed and deeply frustrated, getting angry and anxious around procrastination. And this is where my attention was drawn to.

Why are we triggered so intensely by some situations, getting our emotions escalated to such a degree that it creates, as a defence mechanism, a response through procrastination?

And here lies the main focus point procrastination as a defence mechanism.

What are we protecting ourselves from? There is a deeper truth that is being hidden, or that at this stage in life we don’t feel able to change our circumstances. But still, being in such a position does reveal a side of us that is most likely rooted in deep wounds.

For most of the time, we don’t know — consciously. We can’t clearly justify the why. How many of us have done inner work, expanded our mind, healed emotional wounds, understood emotional patterns, gotten more self-aware, and still get emotionally activated? Not to mention the moments when we don’t have any control over the way we react. We just do.

Why?

Getting to the root cause

The answer to this question isn’t singular. It differs from person to person, because it’s directly related to each one’s life experience.

The way we respond to situations was initially conditioned by our upbringing — through the events lived in our early years — and the emotional patterns taught to us, directly or indirectly, by those around us.

As a child, we have no clue about how to navigate the world. We depend on the adults in our lives to help us create and give meaning to everything surrounding our universe, including the way we respond emotionally.

We learn from what is taught to us — intentionally or not — especially when it’s repeatedly present. Think about a recurring behaviour expressed by your caregivers, your parents, or an adult you constantly interacted with, and how it influenced you, positively or not.

The mind of a little kid is curious, a sponge, absorbing everything surrounding them. But the interpretation they give to each situation, when not mediated appropriately, is subject to the level of knowledge and maturity they have at such anearly age. Which — needless to say — isn’t much.

So there we are, creating the first imprints in our subconscious, the ruler of our behaviour and emotional reactions, that will serve as the foundation for what we will continue to experience, shaping the way we navigate and read life around us.

Maybe you grew up with someone whose relationship with money was based on the fear of not having enough to make ends meet, even though your reality showed otherwise. You never lacked resources. As far as you know, you lived a pretty abundant life, and never really saw a situation where your family had to make choices based on money availability. As far as you could tell, you had a fruitful life, but still the shadow of running out of money was always present, and such direct influence from your environment influenced your own relationship with money. Somehow, you’re always running short. It never seems to be enough for what you need. Regardless of how much you work or how many jobs you take, you always find yourself struggling with saving or having enough to get to the end of the month.

It’s much more profound than we think.

How can we find a single generalized, one-size-fits-all kind of answer to this question: Why are we triggered so intensely by some situations, getting our emotions escalated to such a degree that it creates, as a defence mechanism, a response through procrastination?

We can’t.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t find any answer.

That’s why I’m so inspired by the work I do with hypnosis. I find it fascinating. A tool, or — as I prefer to see it — a gentle approach used to guide us into our most sacred world — the unconscious mind — and help us find clarity for our whys.

Upon seeing the cards that came for us this week, I took this opportunity to help you start uncovering the layers of the truth behind your emotional triggers around procrastination.

We all deal with these emotional responses in some shape or form. So I found it to be very important and helpful to focus on this element today, especially in a week when unresolved matters have decided to bounce back into our lives.

How to navigate this experience

You can interact with the weekly messages in 3 different ways, and mix and match them throughout your week too.

  1. Symbolic reflections

In the first part I share what the cards are bringing to our attention. Literally the intuitive message we’re receiving, the reflections they inspire and how we can work with them. The cards tell a story, and upon intuitively connecting with them, I translate the main energy present into guided

  2. Mind-body regulation

As a way to help you expand your thinking around what the message is proposing, I’m bringing an extra layer combining with my experience in hypnosis. But before I can guide you through your unconscious mind, I first help you reset your nervous system, through a relaxation session. This week we’ll be doing a version of body-scan, helping you find a state of peace and calmness to connect much deeper with your body.

  3. Beneath the Surface

The final part is the hypnosis script, a guided and supported journey into your inner world, to help you receive what your subconscious has saved and can share with you, to help you expand your awareness around what’s being discussed.

In today’s Episode, I will help you start to understand why you get emotionally triggered with a particular situation that leads your mind into using procrastination as a defence mechanism.

When listening to the message the first time, I suggest you do it from beginning to end. Once you’ve experienced it entirely, then you can choose to listen again - as many times as you find necessary or feel called to - targeting what you need most.

Upon returning subsequent times, you can experience the message differently. There could be something that did’t get your attention the first time, but can bring you further insights when heard again.

Another way is to listen to the relaxing meditation when you’re getting ready to bed. It can help you soothe your body into a more calming state, regulating your nervous system and decompressing all the emotional baggage carried throughout the day.

Or maybe you would like to experience the inner journey more than once, because you feel that what came for you the first time needs more clarification and even deeper healing.

Last week I shared my own experience with the message, where I listened to it 3 times. And each time something different landed. take a listen to the Mind-Body (re)connection Episode, for you to have a more detailed view on how the way we work with these messages are very personal, but also very intuitive.

Below is the introductory post to the related message.

I always say this and I will continue to there’s no right or wrong way to work with the messages.

More than anything, this is an invitation to help you find clarity, learn more about yourself and how life is communicating with you, helping you in your own Soul journey, expanding your consciousness and self-awareness, activating your intuition and connecting your mind and body in a much more profound way.

In more practical terms, treat the messages as a good friend who you trust and who is sharing with you a recommendation about a new store, restaurant or place they know. You can’t say what the experience will be like for you until you try it for yourself. And sometimes you need to try it more than once to have a better perception and opinion.

So here is your chance to give this episode a try.

I hope you enjoy your journey.

I would love to know how it was for you. Leave a comment below highlighting what better describes how the message is landing for you this week.

But before you go…

An extra dose of inspiration and guidance

Following a tradition that came to me when I started writing these posts, there’s always an extra card that asks to be present. So far, it has always been from the series Seasons of the Witch.

Amethyst is calling us to connect with our intuition, make spiritual connections, and release stress.

Go where your spirit dwells, where your sight is clear and your breath is liberated.

You may be experiencing a very stressful and emotional time when you receive the Amethyst card: perhaps a situation has gotten out of hand and you aren’t sure how you’re going to resolve the matter. Amethyst is considered to be both a stone of spiritual connection and helpful in seeking sobriety, which suggests the answer to your question is likely a balance between spiritual and practical means. Taking time to clear your mind in a meditative practice could help seeking a solution to your problem or could provide inspiration for your next steps. However, it’s still up to you to put the guidance you receive into practice.

Seasons of the Witch - Imbolc - oracle - by Lorraine Anderson and Juliet Diaz

Well my friend, you read the card. A meditative practice has found your way to help you today! I love how everything connects.

I hope today’s episode can help you to start finding clarity about your whys.

If you feel like deepening your inner searches, wanting to explore in more depth the whys behind your emotions, the ways in which you get triggered, what these triggers mean to you, how you can work with them and be free from the conditioning they “impose”, I’m here to help you explore different ways we can work together.

Our vibes speak louder than our words.

Be well, dear one.
