May has arrived — what is unfolding for us now?
The element of surprise behind this month’s messages—and what they are guiding us to focus on.
Hello beautiful Soul!
May has officially arrived.
- What? Already??
Yep. Are you feeling this way too?
Time continues to trick us, flying away, indulging us with its beauty, while flapping its wings bravely and constantly. Bit by bit, passing by.
In contrast, what a month we are also wrapping up. April came by softly, gently announcing secrets from our underground world, around which our lives revolve, even when we have no clue about their presence or influence.
Did you feel this wave of reality check? Well, be it unconsciously or not, what needs to be seen and faced is finding its way to us - to be clarified, resolved and to push us forward.
In the here and now, we continue to experience life, but even if we don’t notice them (yet), the signs are all around us, guiding us and keeping us on track. What is so profoundly asking for our attention is here as an opportunity for deep healing.
Under April’s energy, the changes we are being invited to discover - many to our surprise - caught us off guard, but still somehow we experienced it all while feeling blessed and grateful for what is being revealed. Because only when they become conscious can we choose to set ourselves free.
Bittersweet feelings, conflicting with our desires and reality, but all this to assist us in realizing that these are exactly the changes we need to see happening in order to fulfill our deepest desires, or simply feel alive. Even if it doesn’t seem so easy or compelling at first.
We need these changes. Oh, we do!
And now, we’re about to start a whole new month. New realizations and discoveries. And as life continues to amaze us, what will be coming for us in the ALMA VIA Podcast is so unique, that I felt called to write this post and share some initial observations with you.
As you can see in the picture, every single message for this month consists of:
1 card from the Gods, Goddesses & Guardians oracle
2 tarot cards
They all came in this same order: 1 oracle card and 2 tarot cards. Different tarot decks though, but all tarot cards.
This has never happened to me before. Even before starting to connect to the messages that will come through these cards, we can already see a pattern. This tells us something. A very important note to pay attention to: consistency.
This month we will be guided to focus on whatever it is that is calling for our attention, in a consistent way. No diversion, no stopping in the middle, no multitasking.
The consistency will also be present among the resources we choose to use. It will be very important for us to make sure we don’t get distracted or attracted by different ideas, propositions, materials or modalities - as challenging as it can be sometimes.
The key will be to stick with what we start and keep it going. At least until the rudder turns the ship in a different direction. From start to finish we move, steady, focused and grounded.
During the month of May we need to be diligent, keep our heads down, and don’t lose track of what will be here to help us continue honouring our path in this life - in our own individual and personal way, but collectively engaged.
I don’t know if you find this meaningful, but believe me, it is.
I don’t choose the decks, nor the cards. I connect, I ask for the messages, and ask my Spiritual Guides to show me, through my pendulum, which oracle or tarot holds the message. Currently I have a total of 11 oracles and 3 tarot decks (well, actually 14 oracles now. Life just gifted me with 3 new ones this week. I wish you could see my excitement right now). But honestly, this is not random. There’s direction, intention and purpose behind it all.
And when you pull the exact same spread, for 4 different readings, from the exact same oracle, with the exact same sequence, you stop and listen.
This month we will continue on an awakening path, expanding our consciousness, moving through new beginnings and connecting with our life-force energy. Because we are all being guided. We are all being called to step into a new world, a new Era, a new reality of what it is to live our humanity as spiritual beings.
Not everyone is listening to this calling. Not everyone is working with these energies, allowing them to guide them into their own discoveries and awakening moments.
But if you’re here, and I mean this more than ever, if you’re reading this right now, don’t dismiss this moment. You’re not here by chance.
There’s no right or wrong way to experience these energies. There’s no right or wrong way to experience these messages. But there’s a wrong path your Soul can follow if you disconnect from serving your own purpose. And by that I mean to simply be present enough to notice how life communicates with you.
I know we so often read or hear about ‘finding our purpose’ in life.
What if your purpose is meant to find you?
The signs are everywhere. But you will not notice them if you’re stuck in your mind, worrying about the ups and downs of the world, or your own little world, without connecting with what truly is here to guide you: your body.
The mind and body axis has been in great disarray. The modern world has focused too much on producing, being productive, getting more and more out of everything, at the cost of our humanity.
Through a masculine, active, work-oriented energy, we focused on what the mind could create. But it didn’t stop there. Once an idea is present it needs to become real.
So we built, and we built. Through it we evolved. This was the energy somehow needed to get us through evolution. But we reached a point where the masculine energy once needed is now being exacerbated. It’s unbalanced.
In order to continue growing strong, we need to give in accordance with how much we receive. That’s the only way we can have a prosperous and fulfilling life, for everyone. In a balanced and fair way.
Unfortunately, in order to build the world we are currently living in, and instill progress, we got emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually and socially sick.
More than ever, we need the feminine energy to counterbalance all that is misaligned, not only by being present, but by truly embodying the change. Our society is now starting to understand this more deeply, not by choice, but by despair.
Sometimes we can only make a change when it starts to hurt. We need to feel so we can understand. Even when the pain is profoundly unbearable. Many are the moments in life when we only actively look for help once our reality becomes impossible to sustain.
Unfortunately that has been our truth. And that is why we’re starting to look for a more gentle and nurturing way of living. We can’t continue to simply survive. We need to live!
A reality check
This hyper focus on the mind closed the doors of connection with the body. Our body was receiving the orders and commands on how to operate, to produce, to achieve, but without the opportunity to decompress, recharge, rebalance, replenish and restore.
So it kept on going, it kept on moving, it kept on working. And now it’s hurting.
How many somatic diseases have emerged in the 21st century?
In retrospect, in the 20th century, the major causes of death were related to infectious diseases, aside from the great wars, which had a significant contribution to the numbers of those deceased. These infections can be viewed as external causes, due to poor sanitary conditions. Prevention and medications were created based on what was emerging simultaneously.
Since then, as we know, medicine evolved greatly, having its major “contribution” from the wars.
But as we entered the 21st century, the main causes of death became chronic and lifestyle diseases. As per a report released by the World Health Organization in August 2024, the top causes were: cardiovascular and respiratory (mostly related to COVID), cancer, Alzheimer, dementia and diabetes.
Accounting the fact that this report reflected the year 2021, right after the world was struck by COVID, even if we were to remove this index from the list, “7 of the 10 leading causes of death in 2021 were noncommunicable diseases (chronic), accounting for 38% of all deaths, or 68% of the top 10 causes”.
Deaths caused by diabetes have increased by 95% since 2000, and drug overdose has risen significantly in some regions around the globe. Take a look at the WHO website if you’d like to understand the statistics better.
But what we really need to understand is that:
Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), also known as chronic diseases, tend to be of long duration and are the result of a combination of genetic, physiological, environmental and behavioural factors.
The main types of NCDs are cardiovascular diseases (such as heart attacks and stroke), cancers, chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma) and diabetes.
NCDs disproportionately affect people in low- and middle-income countries, where nearly three quarters of global NCD deaths (32 million) occur.
Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) killed at least 43 million people in 2021, equivalent to 75% of non-pandemic-related deaths globally.
Are you starting to see what I’m trying to say?
Although in lower income countries, respiratory diseases are still the main cause of death, connecting to the same poor sanitary conditions we saw in the 20th century - and other political and economical factors - my point here is that, except for COVID, which is an environmental disruptor caused by a virus, humanity is now mainly suffering from diseases emerging in their bodies from a combination of ‘genetic, physiological, environmental and behavioural factors’.
It’s important to take account of how epigenetic has revolutionized the field of biology and the idea that we are controlled by our genes, as believed for so many years. As author Bruce H. Lipton says in his book The Biology of Belief:
“In the last decade, epigenetic research has established that DNA blueprints passed down through genes are not set in concrete at birth. Genes are not destiny! Environmental influences, including nutrition, stress, and emotions, can modify those genes without changing their basic blueprint.”
In other words, the simple fact that your parents have a health condition, of any sort, does not mean you will develop it too, even if your genes carry the trait. This is true only for a small number of diseases, such as Huntington’s - a degenerative condition of the nervous system that, upon the presence of a correlated single gene, when inherited, will invariably cause the disease. Huntington, alongside a couple of other conditions, together represent 2% of the population.
The inheritance factor and activation of the genes, based solely on their presence in the cells, cannot be taken as a general concept. In fact, there isn’t much difference between the number of genes a human body has, compared to primitive organisms. Humans and rodents have roughly the same number of genes, so how could that explain the evolutionary gap between both beings?
Genes can be activated or turned off by factors in the environment, not only from direct exposure - for example, through food, chemicals in the air, or those found in household products, but also by how the individual is emotionally triggered under the influence of stressful circumstances. And that’s why numbers like the ones below become really scary and concerning.
The United Nations recently released a report showing that:
More than 840,000 people die each year from health conditions linked to risks such as long working hours, job insecurity, workplace harassment and bullying, according to a new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO).
Another recent study, released in December 2025 on the National Library of Medicine website, investigating the association between stressful life events and the risk of myocardial infarction (MI) and mortality, showed that:
Lifetime exposure to stressful life events is associated with risks of MI, MI-related mortality, and all-cause mortality. Our findings highlight the importance of considering psychosocial stress in cardiovascular risk assessments and support the integration of screening for stressful life events into preventive cardiology.
According to this research, “participants reporting four or more stressful life events experienced non-fatal MI (myocardial infarction) on average 3.7 years earlier, MI-related mortality 12.3 years earlier, and all-cause mortality 9.5 years earlier than those without exposure to stressful life events.”
I know I got a little technical here, but sometimes we need science to back us up and support our views. There’s a very important take on all this that I want you to understand, something I’m sure you already know, but for some reason we keep forgetting.
This hyper-vigilant way of living has led to psychosomatic diseases - physical illness of the body without a clear medical cause, but with a correlation to emotional stress. Under a continuous stressful state the body feels constantly under attack, achieving a point of deregulation and, consequently, disease.
Our bodies were built to respond to stressful situations as a survival mode. We’ve all read or heard about the fight-or-flight responses at some point in our lives - an automated defence mechanism our bodies activate to keep us alive. But that is a response we can naturally understand when we are indeed in danger.
The major issue arose when our lifestyle started to continuously produce moments that trigger these automated responses. Repeatedly, with no break in between. The modern world requires of us to be highly productive, super alert, on top of our game, raise children, beat AI, be fit, emotionally stable, while driving in crazy traffic, being sleep deprived, managing our diets, being emotionally present to support our kids, and be mindful of all the harmful chemicals we are non-consensually being exposed to - all at the same time!
This is crazy just to write, let alone to live! Who can survive all this pressure, without giving in to health imbalance?
And that right there is a huge red flag: we are not taking appropriate time to recover from all these triggers.
Our brain continues to read the stressful situations in our environment and prepare our bodies to defend themselves, ongoing, nonstop, every single day! But when do we really stop to take good care of ourselves. I mean, really?!
A biology check
I’ll get a little more technical here. Bear with me. It’s important, you’ll see.
The hypothalamus, the organ that senses threats, under such circumstance sets off an emergency alarm to notify the pituitary gland, the part of your brain responsible for controlling and managing the over 50 trillion cells in our body.
Once the pituitary gland has been notified, or activated, it sends a direct message to your adrenal glands, informing them of your threatening surroundings and the urgent need to prepare your body for a fight-or-flight response. In a few words, this is our body’s defence mechanism.
Why is this important? Because under a defensive mode, our body can’t grow, can’t prosper. It needs to choose between keeping us alive and nurturing the other organs. I’m talking about our visceral organs - such as the liver, intestines, kidneys and stomach - they will not be receiving the bloodstream they would under a non-chaotic environment.
When preparing the body to defend itself, the adrenals will send signals to start pumping blood to the parts you will need to (technically) use the most, your legs and arms. I say technically because this will be extremely important if you’re indeed in need of running or fighting. But if that’s not really the case, if your outer reality does not match such need, and even worse, continues to produce these stressful activations continuously, your body is constantly being shut down for no “real purpose”.
We’re talking about stressful situations such as those mentioned above: traffic, lack of sleep, your boss shouting at you, the excessive amount of responsibilities that should logically be split between at least another person, but you carry them all yourself, be it at work or at home. The multiple tasks you deal with on a daily basis, running here and there to manage it all, without giving yourself a single break.
Don’t come to me saying that when you go grocery shopping or binge-watch your favourite TV show, it counts as rest. You’re not engaging your mind and body all together, to release the tension and stress. And as wonderful mindful exercises truly are, they’re also not enough if only this resumes your self-care practice. They are super important - don’t get me wrong, nor give up on them - but alone they can’t do much.
You need to move your body’s energy, intentionally, not just your body!
Intentionality. This is a word I’ve been deeply connected to these days. Actually, two words: activation and intentionality.
I’m not taking about good intentions. It’s about being intentional. This is different. Let me circle back to this a little later in this post.
First, I want you to truly understand what happens in your body, because the concern is not even around what is inhibited when the fight-or-flight mechanism is activated (see? This word again), but the fact that the body doesn’t bounce back to a nurturing state once the threat ceases.
Our body cells respond to correlated external stimuli, either protecting themselves or growing. But when one mode is active, the other one is stopped. The cell can’t protect itself and grow at the same time.
But here is a catch. The absence of threat doesn’t automatically activate the growing mode. Proper stimulation needs to happen.
Meaning, when you leave a stressful situation, unless you give your body the nourishment and care it needs to recover from what you just experienced, it will not create it by itself. It’s just like your bank account. The money doesn’t replicate itself just by sitting there. If you keep spending, your account will eventually get into a deficit. You need to make new deposits, regularly, to have a reserve to spend while also growing your assets.
But the amount of stress we are currently living under has not accounted for the moments of self-care we need to bring in, in order to replenish our bodies. The fact is that we are constantly running empty.
We need to intentionally advocate for our health!
And what does all this have to do with the May messages?
Well, my friend, everything.
What’s coming our way?
We need to regain our balance. Our bodies are crying out for help, exhausted by the excesses. They need to be nurtured, supported in their individual needs and also through community, diving into more profound waters, accessing the subconscious and activating the parts that have been silenced, dormant, hidden and forgotten. And now is a wonderful moment to start doing just that!
These, my friend, are times for deep healing. And that’s the main purpose of the spiritual messages in the ALMA VIA Podcast: to help you reconnect with yourself, to allow life to guide you and get you back on your feet, in alignment with what you truly want to see happening in your life. As prosperously, abundantly and joyfully as you may wish it to be.
Because sometimes, even though we know how stressful and unhealthy the habits we keep in our lives are, change isn’t something that comes easily.
But if you’re waiting for life to make the changes you wish to see happening, that’s not going to happen. If you’re one of those people who are always waiting for “this phase” to be over, you will be waiting forever. Trust me.
We already understood that this month we will be called to consistently work on something that will expand our consciousness and reconnect us with our life-force energy. This is your chance to dive deep and find out more about your own emotional patterns and start to make the movements you want in your life.
That’s why I believe so much in these messages and the work I do through hypnosis: together they help us connect with the part that holds our truth - our subconscious - and break free from the emotional conditionings that keep us stuck and hold us back.
If you’re uncertain about where to start, here is a good place to begin. Listen to the first two Episodes. Then follow along, or follow your heart and see which messages call out to you.
May is here. This month we will be lovingly guided and supported into our intuitive awakening. If this is something not familiar to you, don’t worry. There’s no right or wrong way to experience any of it. Just be open to listen and receive.
As much as we are still experiencing the inspirations of what is present for this week, as we move closer to its end, we start to sense the shift in the energy.
Next Tuesday we will receive the first message for this month. We’re being called to dive deeper and deeper into our hidden world: our subconscious. That is where the real programming of our mind was done. Where the whys about our life are saved.
Just by the cards that came in for the first week you can start to see - The Avalon Priestess (Intuitive Awakening), Ace of Swords (Realization) and The Moon (The Unconscious).
Be sure not to miss the next Episode in the ALMA VIA Podcast. If you haven’t signed up yet, here is your chance to be directly notified by your provider every time an episode drops, and have access to the show notes.
Every Tuesday a new episode is released and a new post is published here on Substack, in relation to the Episode.
These messages are not meant to tell you what to do, but to offer perspective, reflection, and support — so you can bring the teachings into your daily life in a realistic and embodied way. And to help you connect even deeper, I bring in my experience with hypnosis to guide you through moments of inner clarity and self discovery.
And before I leave, it’s starting to become a ritual for me to pull a card at the end of every essay I write. Even when I “forget” about it, this inspirational idea finds its way back to me. And this time was no different.
Today I’m writing from a coffee shop, making an effort to get out of my house more whenever I can, and opening myself up to new encounters life has to bring me. Last year I came to this place and met two gentlemen, who after a delightful conversation decided to gift me with a gift card from this shop. I had the card in my purse for over six months now and hadn’t come back since then. This place is a little far from my home.
But today, life surprised me with a set of new oracle decks (the ones I mentioned earlier in this post) and the place I picked them up from was close to this café. I then remembered the gift card and decided to make my drive worth the commitment.
Among the five decks that I have with me here, one got my attention. So I worked with its energy and look what came for us.
Sun wheel - Make sure to catch your breath; you are in for an unexpected journey.
“Be prepared: the presence of the sun wheel in a reading means things are about to speed up. You can expect a shift in movement in any number of ways - a project suddenly gaining significant traction, finding yourself on an adventure halfway across the world, a whirlwind romance or even the sudden urge to get up and move your physical body. This type of dynamic energy is exciting and generally stimulates positive outcomes, but change can be overwhelming - even good changes - so be sure to make time to catch your breath and plant your feet firmly on the ground.
The energy of the sun wheel is quick to come and quick to go, so don’t waste it with indecision.”
Season’s of the Witch - Litha - Oracle - by Lorraine Anderson & Juliet Diaz
I always get amazed with the synchronicity of it all.
Our vibes speak louder than our words.
Be well!
Love, Livia
