Are you clinging to who you had to be to survive?
The pursuit of your inner truth
As we continue our conversation from this week episode, on the ALMA VIA Podcast, it’s no surprise to attest that this week is carrying a powerful energy. Not only because of the Lunar Eclipse. This is for sure a frequency igniting the world in different ways, as we have been seeing in the news.
It’s also being powerful in our own little worlds. We’re sensing the movement of old energy, longing to come out, asking to be released, to be freed. Some are even experiencing it physically in their bodies. Or noticing some weakness in the connection with their Spiritual Guides. It definitely feels wonky.
But today I want to take your attention to another aspect of your consciousness. As a matter of fact, your subconscious world. Because when we don’t fully understand what’s trying to come to the surface, we give in to doubt; it creates confusion, and our minds spiral, taking away our presence.
We so often look externally for what’s affecting our routine, directly or indirectly, as the main causes for distress and disruption. But we forget about an important element that plays an even bigger and more significant role in how we conduct our experiences: our mind.
Our mind consists of 2 parts: a conscious side and an unconscious one. The conscious mind helps us locate ourselves in time and space, discern information, and put together everything we take in. Our subconscious world is hidden, and it carries valuable treasures inside. It’s compounded by the parts our consciousness can’t access on free demand. Everything we live is stored and registered in our internal archives, from the first breath of Life that entered our body. But we need a special key to open it.
The subconscious has a gatekeeper who decides what comes out and what doesn’t. Inside these gates our truest desires are kept locked, much for our protection. Imagine a life lived only by these impulses.
Although kept locked in the dungeons of our subconscious, these aspects and experiences influence our perceptions, actions, and thinking directly, as they carry the narrative of what constitutes our experience on Earth.
Through my practice as a Hypnotist, I’m allowed to enter secret worlds and witness stories at times never heard before. Through symbols, shapes, images, memories, and dreams, the subconscious communicates with the individual by shining a light into their internal caves, leading to a healing path, one step at a time. It leaves clues along the way, helping one identify and access a piece of their Life’s puzzle, to later on discover a whole universe of causalities and possibilities.
For this, you can look at the subconscious as being a caring and considerate character, because it never shows you a pain bigger than what you’re already facing. But that doesn’t mean it won’t hurt. All it is doing is trying to guide you to find your own inner truth.
To go a little deeper into the implications of hypnosis and help you understand how it works, I’ll use as a reference an experiment shared in the American Journal of Physics in 1983 by Lorne Whitehead, called “Domino Chain Reaction.” In his paper, he described how a domino effect — when a sequence of single domino pieces is positioned in a way that can cascade a series of others to also be set in motion — could not only topple another equal piece but also double in size, subsequently and exponentially. In simple terms, every subsequent domino piece was fifty percent larger in size than its previous one, and could still be knocked down.
The concept behind this experiment is really powerful because it shows that one single movement can have an absolutely more impactful result, not only because it reverberates through different parts, but on a much larger scale.
I see the effects of hypnosis on the unconscious mind like this domino experiment. One initial move, when worked on consistently, can unlock profound and powerful default mechanisms and unleash a person from deep and hurtful conditionings. And the end result is substantial.
When someone finds a piece of their Life’s puzzle, or their first domino tile, it allows them not only to see the picture more clearly as it grows exponentially, but it also releases compounds of stored information leading to more self-knowledge. It sets them free from long periods of emotional blocks and patterns. We’re talking about being released from mental and emotional chains. That’s huge! And it reflects on all areas of life.
This is not to say that any hypnosis work will have this effect. We need to be very careful not to take precipitated conclusions, as there’s thoughtful and purposeful work done based on each person’s case. But it is, with no doubt, a powerful tool.
The coping mechanisms generated by a dysregulated body are nothing but the mind looking for ways to help one survive. In the long term, it starts to create symptoms and responses due to the stress and suffering implicated, creating a feedback loop, retro-feeding its own reality and conditions.
But the mind is a powerful organism. And the body responds to whatever it is put under, because it consists of micro-organisms that by themselves are individual living particles. They respond singularly and, like the domino effect, in a cascade, to the constant influences they are submitted to. Everything carries energy. So what you ingest, think, apply to yourself, put yourself through — everything has a direct impact on your body, your mind, and your soul. Because this is an axis, directly interconnected, where one does not exist without the other.
Who hasn’t heard of the Placebo effect? A famous research study performed at the University of Glasgow in 2014 proved that what you believe to be true about what will happen to your body becomes your reality. This study examining the placebo effect found that endurance runners who thought they were injecting a fictional performance-boosting drug called OxyRBX improved their race time even though they had taken only saline.
This study really showed that when your mind signals your body with an idea that carries a positive outcome, it responds in equal capacity. In other words, if you believe you can heal, outperform, achieve, or succeed, your body will work responsively to get you there.
An equal but reverse effect is also true. It’s called the Nocebo effect, basically consisting of negative thoughts that will, for that matter, make you feel worse or believe yourself to be incapable of achieving your goals.
The idea that you have a direct and powerful influence in your wellbeing is not mystic thinking, it’s a real science-based fact.
Be it through therapeutic or spiritual work, understanding how your mind perceives life, your family history, your upbringing, your values, your emotional triggers — your automated responses to life’s situations — is a very important step.
Under this week’s energy, as shared in the last episode in the ALMA VIA Podcast — The Space Between Old and New — we’re being invited to detox. Literally get rid of what has been way too long stored or kept that truly has no value at this point. Be it in the physical or spiritual realm.
And as much as we’re being called to clean up our cabinets, rooms, relationships, jobs, habits, auras, we must also take under this light what needs to come to the surface of our minds, and look at conditioning patterns that have been kept hidden for way too long and aren’t really serving us positively.
As I’m writing this piece, I felt the urge to pull a card from my oracles. And interestingly enough, it was the same card that came during a session with a client last week. As soon as I started to write this, it took me back to the conversation we had about this card. It’s called Loosen Your Grip and it talks about releasing coping mechanisms and surrendering all that feels dense to the Divine. It says:
“The things we cling to often cover up our most vulnerable space — the part we’re most afraid to leave empty.”
Leave empty. This is what our spiritual guides are telling us. It’s what this week’s message in the Podcast is all about: to get rid of what’s old and make space, not for more, but for better! Open up space for new energy to flow.
Decluttering mental traps created through your childhood experiences and relationships that now shape how you navigate life is the truest form of mental cleaning. Because it not only makes space for new possibilities to come your way, it frees you from what directly keeps you from living at your full capacity. It gives back your power. It removes blocks. It opens the roads of your Life.
I grew up believing I’m not smart enough. Because of traumatic experiences that made me question my self-worth, I read all challenges in my life as proof of how much I didn’t know, and therefore couldn’t really outgrow them. Can you begin to imagine how different my life would have been if I didn’t have this limited belief about my own capabilities? It’s that domino effect again. One single event reflects on multiple ones exponentially.
It’s taken me a long time to understand, work on, and break free from this internal conditioning. The very fact that you’re reading this today is proof of the movements I continue to make to heal this wound. Because not so long ago, I could never have imagined myself writing about what I know and continue to learn, especially in English — as this isn’t my first language.
Trusting that nothing needs to be perfect to be initiated, and that the beauty it carries is in its own evolutionary process, is what has pushed me to believe there’s really no better time than now. I kept myself in my mind’s dungeons for way too long. Piece by piece, my subconscious has been signaling me to find my truth. As I help others heal, I’m healing myself too.
Today I invite you to look at your own self with love and compassion, and ask:
Am I clinging to who I had to be to survive? What would it feel like in my body to break free from this survival mechanism?
This week, in Human Design, the energetic frequency we are under comes from gates 63 and 64. The shadow side of gate 63 is doubt. The light, or the energy that helps one move from the dark manifestation of this energy, is inquiry. And the higher self form of this gate is truth. Gate 64 is confusion, clarity, and ideation — respectively. It’s about the mystery of inner light.
As Richard Rudd, author of the book The Gene Keys, says:
“Shadows are not inherently bad in the sense of being evil. They are in fact the raw material of the higher fields of consciousness — like the nugget of coal that may hide a diamond of great beauty.”
As we navigate our shadow waters, wrapped in self-doubt, insecurity, and lower self-worth, we start to question our own abilities and operate in misbelief. It creates confusion, as it distorts reality. What our minds perceive, based on our limiting beliefs, doesn’t match the possibilities the world constantly presents to help us evolve. We create coping mechanisms to compensate for our internal blocks while falling into our own mental traps. Life gets dense, and we become addicted to our own conditionings, locked in emotional patterns. We prevent ourselves from being enlightened.
This is no way to live. As we start to question what’s true and seek clarity, understand what works and what serves us, we move to a brighter side in our trajectory, illuminated by the answers that lead us to the path of truth. In truth, we embody our own inner pursuit, seeking answers for life’s big questions, much involving a more spiritual journey. We become aware of the multitude of options available, and consequently multiple ideas also emerge, creating a new sense of life, leading our way to growth.
“At every moment, your thinking reflects the way in which the inner body is feeling. (…) Most people develop patterns from an early age to escape feeling this vast desert of world pain and the mind is the first line of defense. As long as we are addicted to thinking, we can avoid fully feeling it. This suffering within each human being is rooted entirely in the past. It came down into you through your ancestral DNA and was transferred to you as a child through the coping strategies of your parents and peers. Your basic urge to flee from this pain will keep you from ever facing what you really are, and this fact, lying deep within your cells, gives rise to another of the great human Shadows — self-doubt.” Rudd, Richard.
It’s no coincidence that all that is coming to our attention this week — the cleansing message from our spiritual guides in the Podcast, this energetic field through the lenses of Human Design, and the oracle card — has aligned. Non-intentionally. As I started working on this article, it all came together. Stating one more time how the Universe is always communicating with us, leading the way to our personal and spiritual evolution. Aka, synchronicity.
Today I invite you to question, to inquire about your whys. If something within you or about your life isn’t what you expected it to be, seek your truth. Look for answers. Don’t accept this as fate, as we all were created to thrive — not in the same way, but each in our own reality and in accordance with who we are here to BE.
There’s no shame in facing your shadows. It only highlights your bravery, your courage, your strength. Don’t be distracted or discouraged by those who can’t, for whatever reason, face their own paths. Self-discovery is your life’s journey, not a task.
Each step of the way, as you open a new door, you find new resources that help you heal. This is your Life’s work. Along the way you’ll connect with different people, in different places, but each experience will provide you with a piece of your Life’s puzzle.
You can only find these pieces if you initiate the pursuit of your own Truth. But in order to take this journey, you need to first surrender.
Divine force wants to work through you, but your mind gets in the way. It will try to control you, but the more illuminated you become, the less power it has over you. When your mind stops thinking, the confusion ends. And you allow Light to come through.
Remember the domino experiment. One small piece has the power to knock down a much larger one further ahead! Just imagine all you can create in your future by taking one small step today!
Our vibes speak louder than our words.
Be well!
